Ivomec will work on demodectic mange (red mange) - the dips should fix you up for what it looks like you're dealing with there (it's a little hard to see). Yep to the cedar shavings, that's what I use. Fleas don't like 'em, but it won't stop ALL the fleas, just helps kick 'em back some. The key to bedding is keeping it dry.
I agree with Mr. B and ss too, the switching feed can make that happen but you rarely see redness with it other than scratching redness. Allergies also usually will be around the eyes. You'll get that alot with corn based feeds in some dogs, others do fine their whole lives. The market has changed on the quality standard, it's not regulated quite as well as you'd think and more wheat gluten is being used, that's where a lot of the recalls are coming from....they make us BELIEVE it's higher quality when it's not even close to as good as it used to be. The biggest thing, we used to use American "stuff" now we don't.
I feed a 24/18 (24% protein/18% fat) feed year 'round, but I'm in a little different climate than you are and I work my dogs year 'round, so there really no "off" season for them. We don't have the real cold winters but have the high heat/high humidity summers and much more protein I'm just not a fan of. It has it's place but I don't work a dog hard enough to burn up the protein rather than the kidney's having to do it....

CDH I think yer on the right track by going to TSC But here's one other tip of advice .
I know and I understand why you switch feed , we all have to do or have done this from time to time simply because budgets or other things like feed stores not keeping the type of feed our dogs have did good with .
But here is the best thing I can say... When you find a feed your dogs do good with , Unless there is no other way for you to obtain this certain feed period for what ever the reason, " Dont keep switching on them " Now my dogs do fine on River Run and I feed this year around to my grown dogs, My puppy's get Purina Puppy chow from the time they start eating solid food up untill they are 7 months I then will gradualy cut down on the puppy chow mixing in River Run untill I have them eating just River Run. Now I said my dogs do fine on this. But every body else has the chance to feed what ever to their dogs . Some others might not do well with this .
But what im saying is when you find a feed your dogs do well with in and out of the season ( Keep them on this feed they do good with )
I honestly think this feed stuff is like alot of other things out there. Its called Marketing, Basicly a Bunch of Mud ..... With feed companys trying to win more sales in their product.
Unless there is a recall because of something killing dogs thats is the most thing to pay attention to. And pay close attention to that or you can PAY the consequinces by not paying attention .
I hope this makes since to you .

You have already been given some good advice on this topic but from the pictures I would say that your dogs have problems with fleas. The ears and belly are the easiest places for the dogs to reach and these will show up first.Have you checked closely for fleas?Like stated before,it hard to tell you exactly what to do without being able to examine the dog closely. Buy This: www.jefferspet.com/ssc/product.asp?CID=0&mscssid=E7M6DGTGW5VL8PNSL8U7V6L6KC4T73P3&pf_id=0027948 use as directed.Make sure you are treating for fleas on the dog,pen and bedding area. You should see results in days.You8 can buy that at any walmart or feed store.

CDH, I'm not fussin' at ya buddy, we all wanna help ya. Fleas, ticks, wet/dirty bedding, worms, etc all are enemies to your dogs. You can actually get away with a lot of things if you'll do just a few simple things each month with your hounds. And it doesn't have to cost a fortune. You can go to tractor supply and get most of this that I'm gonna list and fix your hounds up better than most of America's house pets, not because people don't care, but because they don't know any better.
Ivomec - just a few drops once a month every month Bayer - 4 or 5 cc per dog squirted as close to the skin as you can get it between their shoulders once a month Safeguard/Rintal/Panacur/Valbazen horse wormer - 1 click per big hound 3 days in a row every 2 to 3 months
Every month, clean their houses out, put in new shavings if it makes ya feel better, in the winter, yeah, they'll need a little something extra to keep warm...otherwise, they're fine without it.
Once in a blue moon you may need to buy something like the Paramite or Prolate D to dip your dogs - but it'll surprise how rare that'll be...the bugs and no see 'ums will already be gone most of the time.

When my Black and tan had the Mange.. I used a home remedy mixture that helped get rid of the mites.. Mixture was a 50/50 mix of Pantene shampoo and conditioner and original pinesol... I bathed him once a week and let the mixture sit for 15 min. before rinsing. This took care of the bugs and now he looks great...
I also do not use straw or hay for there bedding seems like the bugs like that stuff to much. Summer time I use very little cedar chips. winter I will lay it down to keep him warm. I also clean out frequently atleast every other week. I also spray the yard with bayer as a precaution.. I try to be pro active now.. It's a mess when your hounds are full of bugs....

well heres my report for today, 1 day after treatment(applied last night). alright most of the dogs mange is starting to dry up. but the dog with the worst case is having a lot of drainage with her mange.... is that good or bad? bud thats only on the spots where she scratched it off her skin wherer there are cuts or whatever, im hoping the bugs will be dead soon, but when it stops spreading then the bugs are dead?
