I guess this old fart has a lot to learn about tracking and shock collars. Never used either in my life on any dog I ever had . I can see where a tracker might be very helpful in certain areas especialy if your #1 money dog is gone and you cant locate him or her. But to be truthful Knock on wood.... I've never lost a dog. Been awfull lucky I guess. All the guys I hunted with in the past were good guy's and would help ya catch or pick up your dog ( if they could ) Guess Im still stuck in the Old school world of dog huntin. But now Im just wondering if I need to change my ways. Never had a dog I couldnt break from trash either. Again Lucky I guess . I have been thinking now since i have to use a wheelchair in the woods or my buggy , I can't run down a trash dog and get his attention like I could before . Maybe this would realy be helpful in my case . But my god them things are high dollar gadgets... do y'all think a used one would be good enough for trash breaking or if they decide not to come to me and load up when Im ready to go home. Now im saying also when their not Hot on a track and pushing one . I cant stand a dog that won't come to me when there is nothing going on . Bet if ya fired him up a couple a times it would change his mind right quick if needed

is it well worth the price? before you buy it you think the price is high.... but after you own it for a few weeks you start to think its cheap. i refuse to turn a dog out in the woods without a tracking collar on because i know my qtr6000 will be able to keep track of them.... and when i hunt land i dont know, i hang a collar on the truck and take the unit with me, if i get lost in the excitement of coon huntin i can track the truck and b line back. my friend took me to his deer lease and after we were done huntin we walked around for an hour and he finally admitted he didnt know where we were. so i pulled out the unit and tracked the collar on the truck and we wer there in 20 minutes.....

as far as shocking units go, you can get a tri tronics shock collar and transmitter for about 150 dollars. thats what i use and its a great unit.
