OK here goes how much does hills and hollows like here in north Ms. effect the tracking system...I ask because I ran last night and played around with the new tracking unit I have.I could hear the dogs running but they were almost out of hearing.I was on top of the highest ground in the area..And couldn't get a signal at all not even a weak one..I checked to make sure it was working when they came in and it was.I wouldn't think at that range the hills would stop a signal...Any opinions..

Depends on what system that you have. I know that we have had a couple and some don't work as well as others. We have a few hills here and it seems like the singnal will bounce with some systems so you can''t really tell which way that it is until you top the hill.

When in the hills or steep ravines, be careful the signal will bounce sometimes from one side to the other. Some trackers are better than others. I've had a few systems, and collars also make a big difference sometimes the most. My quick track seems to work the best for hills & rough country.

dd444- In this humid weather it could also be the collar the frequency can actually change a point one way or another. Example could be if your collar is a 217.150, try 217.149, or 217.151. Collars can and will change at times, I have seen it more in the hot and humid weather. Hope this helps!

The system says it will track 216,217,219 and 220 at the same time..This is my first tracking system and my first time to use it..I was wondering if I did something wrong or if something was wrong with the system. When the dogs came back I turned it on and it was working fine..I'm still trying to figure it all out..Acording to what the system says I can track up 68 collars at once..Does this sound right to you. There is no was to set the system just channels it has 16 channels..I was thinking if I could hear the dogs the system should pick up a signal..But like I say I'm new to this and just don't know..

Chris I cant say I have any knowledge with the type of box you have, I have a tracker 5000 which also tracks 216, 217, 218, 219, 220, and I have used the wildlife as well. When I say I change the frequency I mean just the last didget either up or down one. But like I said I am not fimilar with the box you have, maybe someone else on here is. Good luck!

dd make sure it doesn't have a annueter switch on it , if it does the antenna could be turned off. I have a wildlife, but have been around others, i have never heard dogs and could'nt track them. It might not have been accurate but I could get some type of signal.

I played with it some today and figured out what I was doing wrong...The on/off button is also the band selection button.I tried it out and I could get about a mile and a half out of it..I don't care much for the collars they look cheap.I think like Ken said once I get my new collars in It will track farther ..

dd444, before you spend money on new collars,i`d see if someone can track those collars with another wand. diffenitly check the annueter as longshot said. if you can here the dogs you should be able to pick them up on the rd400.

i've had the innotek system for about 6 months now. you cant change the frequency numbers, just the channels. each band gives you 16 channels with a range. it will be like 216.100 to 216.150 and will pickup any frequency between. my machine works great but i did hate the innotek collars. i sold my collars and bought some johnson 16000 hour collars. i could only get about 1 mile out of the innoteks and i get up 4 with the johnsons in the swamp. i checked it with gps going to a bay so it should be pretty accurate.
