Well I talked to houndaddy1 on the phone and he gave me some pointers I got it going on now..lol I got some more collars, the innotek collars that came with the system suck thats all it is to it.With the new collars I got I can track a dog way past where I could with the innotek. But I love the system its real easy to use and tracks good..

dd444, i recently bought the same system. I've not tried it in the mts yet, but in the flats i got a little over 7 miles & in the foothills, slightly under 4 miles. My only complaint thusfar would be battery life of the collars.

I tested the innotek collars I got with my system.I had my wife get in the car and go down the road with the collar and a 2 way radio. And it got weak at about 8/10 of a mile and by a mile and 4/10 I didn't have any signal at all..And with the new collars I got to the end of the road 2 miles and 6/10 and had a very strong signal. It might just be the collars I got with mine but the tracker collars were doing a lot better job than the innotek were.I'm new to all of this stuff but I love the system so for..Found a dog last week that would have been left if I hadn't had it..I'm still using the innotek collars on my pups till I get the Johnson collars in.And I have notice the innotek collars need the battery changed about every 4th or 5th hunt.I'm only getting 30 or 40 hours out of a battery.About how many hours are you getting? They told me I would get 70 to a 100 hours out of a battery but I'm not getting even close to that.More like half of that..Thats another thing the color of the light should change when the battery is week but on one collar it doesn't.I had one go dead on me week before last the light was still green but no signal at all not even when the dog was close. When the dog came in the collar was blinking green but no signal..Changed the battery and went back to working again.I might have got some bad collars with my system but houndaddy1 said he had the same problem with them..Maybe you lucked out and got some good ones..lol

I've been getting around 50 hrs per battery. When you changed the battery did you reprogram the collars channel?

Yes it has to be reprogramed when you change the battery.I'm also running both collars on 220. got one programed for channel 1 and the other for channel 2 and my tracker collars are 3 and 4 channel. But the johnson collars I have on the way one wiil be channel 5 and the other will be 2 so I guess I'll have to change the innotek from 2 to 6 on the programing.I'm going to keep the innotek collars as back-ups..

dd444- glad to hear you bought some johnson collars, I have tried different brands and I feel johnson is the best. The battery last for a very long time and it at least gives you a warning a long time before it goes dead. Many of the replaceable battery collars dont give much warning. Were we bear hunt in the north, in the group we all run johnson or klein collars and always remark when some of the other hunters stop us to see if we have seen their dog because the changeable battery has went dead with little to no warning.
