ive been wanting to get into deer trials and ive been wondering what kind of dogs are usually used for deer trials? is it just like foxtrials where they use just walkers? or what i run 1 walker,3 blueticks,1 plott, and 1 redbone and are those good deer trial dogs? thanks

The majority use foxhounds in field trials for deer. They run faster than a coonhound and the only way to score is to be at the front of the pack.

Friend of mine won best of the best (Eastern NC deer series) with a foxwalker/bird dog cross.She could fly,but she also stayed in pocket and was seen by judges,that makes a big difference

Give it a try,like I said if they stay in bounds and them jacked up walkers leave out on a rail,you may take home the gold

well my dogs will be running longer than the "speeddemons" mine may be slow but they can keep it up all day =]

Hey man the outside trials are alot of fun, there are usually have 3 or 4 outside trials on the virginia/carolina line right around buggs island lake, if you want i can let you know when they come around and let you know who to call to get your numbers.

got a deer trial every year in the ocala forest weekend before hunting season opens.
