Illinois Conservation Congress Forum The Conservation of Congress Forum was held this past Saturday at the University of Illinois at Springfield. State Treasurer Judy Baar Topinka, the Republican candidate for governor attended a one-day conservation forum where more than 100 leaders of Hunting, Fishing and Trapping, Bicyclists, Park District Representatives, Environmental Representatives and Bird-Watcher groups all gathered to develop ideas and combined political clout for presenting ways to help fund programs and restore IDNR back to where it once was. These ideas will be shared with both candidates for Governor. The Illinois Federation of Hunting Dogs was glad to be part of the Forum. There was a huge consensus that we all pool our resources together to help support all our interest. Some of the groups have memberships of 11,000; 15,000; 75,000, 25,000 and etc. Theses add up to many votes and combining our resources can give all some political clout in protecting our interest in hunting, fishing, trapping, camping, protecting the environment and protecting outdoor activates. Illinois Federation of Hunting Dogs (IFHD) looks forward to continuing to be a part of the Conservation of Congress. The Forum committee will be putting together a list of all the items covered at the Conservation Congress Forum and sending it to all who participated. When we recieve the information, I will share with all of you.
This Forum was a huge success. One things that came up was for all of us to work together. We can work to use all our lobbyist together, which will give us more contacts and people to work with the Legislators in protecting our hunting intrest.
Thanks
