I'm looking to build a new dog box out of steel framing and could use any help or ideas (pictures would be nice too) you guys may have. I'm wanting something about 52" long 48 across and 26 deep. Any tips on how to get started would be greatly appreciated.

Great looking box. How much did that set you back to purchase all of the materials.

Conduit isn't that much which is what that box looks Luke it is made out of. I built one a few years back out of conduit and with the pressure treated plywood top I want to say I had less than 200 bucks in mine.

You take the 3/4 and put 1/2 inside of it to make the hinge and save some money there.

You take the 3/4 and put 1/2 inside of it to make the hinge and save some money there. Hinges made that way rattle alot. I use 1/2" conduit cut with a tubing cutter so it has kind of a bevel to it. Then use 1/2" bolts as hinge pins. Sometimes you have to tap them in with a hammer, but they don't rattle much. Lately I've been using the security pannels or goat pannels( which ever one is 2"x4") for the sides, and just building the frame out of conduit. It costs a little more if your only building 1 box, but it really cuts down obn time. If you're building more than one, you can get about 3 boxes out of 1 pannel and it's cheaper.

That's a nice looking box....I can say I got a price to have one made and the guy said 1300.....I'd let the hounds ride in the cab before spending that kind of cash...crazy talk....So instead, I have an old alum over the rail box and add a little something each year...The water tank is important...if the boys and girls know where to come for water they always come back

just a suggestion, if anyone wants a good bottom in a box use a sheet of masonite, back side up. It will be a lot smoother, last a long time and wash out easier than plywood.
