I know this is probably crazy, but this is one of the few things that would spur me into violence. And that would be to catch someone stealing a dog! I know that the majority of dogs I have lost over the years have gone to gators and snakes. The ones that got run over I found. Some I know got stolen. Just one example of the thievery was when I found my tracking collar in the median strip in Hwy 92 in Florida between De Land and Daytona Beach. The dog may have been smart, but I don't think he figured out how to take his collar off and hitch a ride by himself. I have many other examples, but I won't bore you with all of them. I never had a web site that would get out to as many dog hunters as this one. This site may be the worst nightmare a dog thief ever had. I belong to the Central Florida Fox Hunters Assoc and every member is assigned a number. Locally all the humane societies know to call the president of the association if a dog comes in with members # in it's ear (ex:CF 66 or CFA 66). He then contacts the member. This has been successful for me several times. I have had several dogs stolen from Management areas. They take the collars off and drop the dog off at a humane society or they drop the dog off some where else and it ends up there. They do this because they don't like dog hunting. I have only given away 3 dogs with my member # in it's ear in my life. So if you run into one with CF 66 tattooed in it's ear it is Probably mine. Please give me a shout.

I ran out of room above and still had a couple of more things to add.
Thought it might be interesting to hear some of the stories everyone else may have experienced where you suspect a dog was stolen. Some may have been recovered or some you may have never been seen again.
I lost a dog the first Tuesday of one season and got it back a year to the day the next season. Got it back in tip top shape and a better dog than when it left. Someone had been hunting the dog regular and feeding it good. This was a case where the human society called the president of the CFFA and he called me.
So lets post those stories and if there is some sort of positive ID, you never know just maybe someone will find a dog or two. If not it may be some interesting reading.

I hate that for you. Hope you find the dog or who took him.
