Some of my hounds have started pooping in there dog house.
I had three original dogs and had no problems. I went to NC and bought four young beagle/walkers and everything was fine. I have them two to a pen. All of a sudden the two females in one pen started pooping in the dog house, and then two of my original males started doing the same in their pen. The other three males are still doing as they are supposed to. These are concrete pens with elevated wooden dog houses. I wash the pens down once or twice a day.
I've tried washing the concrete and not cleaning the dog house for a couple of days, and I've tried the reverse. I have not tried over two days because of the smell and flies it causes.
Does anybody have any suggestions as how to break this nasty habit? Surely some of you have had to have had this problem.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I hadn't thought about that. You may very well be right.
It doesn't solve the problem, but I sure appreciate the response.

I e-mailed Steve Snell @gun Dog Supply and this was his responce. Just thought I would pass it along for discussion. Re: do you have a product or a suggestion to help me? FROM: Steve - Gun Dog Supply.com TO: KEITH SUZIN Thursday, June 21, 2012 12:10 PM Keith, Thanks for contacting Gun Dog Supply. I've seen this with younger dogs that eventually grew out of it. How old are the dogs? We've had pups that did this right after weaning when momma wasn't there to clean it all up. You could try by making the house smaller, put a divider that only allows them a small area to lay. You could also try feeding them inside the house. I've seen that discourage pooping in the house. Please let us know if you have any questions or need any further assistance. We do appreciate your business. Gun Dog Supply - www.gundogsupply.comThis site mostly deals with bird dogs, but they do have some good products for the houndsman also. I think I will try rearanging my dog first to see if that helps, but having 2 of my original dogs doing it gives me consern since they have been penneds together all a long?

Just thought I would add to this thread. Separating them did no good so I cut the space down where they had limited room to lay down and it solved the problem.
