so i had a cb given to me its an old uniden 500d when hooked up to an antenna it will trasmit and recieve but when hooked up to an swr meter i get nothin on the meter and the meter is set properly so i can calibrate it. when i hook up the meter to an cobra 25 classic ltd in the rv i am able to find my swr reading anybody know why the uniden wouldnt be showing anything on the meter? thanks Mac

Could be that the uniden dead key is set so low that it won't show up on the swr meter. Does the swr meter have a watt meter in it also? If so check and see what the dead key of the uniden is.

yes it has a watt meter and i also get nothing when i check it

yep had a 1.5 mile range but tonight i fooled with it and could transmit but couldnt receive everybody ive talked to is stumped im thinkin about just buyin a new uniden 520xl and not fool with this one

It very well could be that it isn't the radio but the antenna. Check your jumpers that you are using going to the meter and the coax going to the antenna. What kind of antenna are you using? You can have the best radio in the world and if your antenna has high swr you are not talking!!

its a 4ft firestick tested it and everything is good and jumper is good

Yeah well that doesn't mean that the swr are low. If they are high the radio will not work.
