I own a Johnson RB-10 Tracking system not sure what kind of collars I have. I bought the system used cpl years ago and have not been real happy with it. I don't get the range from this system that I should. I have had dogs go out of range with this system but I can hear them in the distance but can't get a beep on them. I called Johnsons about my issue and they said to send the unit in to re tune. I'm kinda nervous about that just because I am so frustrated about not getting good range on my hounds. I lost one dog this yr due to the system not working properly. I was training a young dog that was showing good promise, the day I lost her the light turned on and was burning up a good track.
In y'alls opinion should I retune this thing or go with another system all together??

Do the collars have batteries in them? If so they might need changed. If they are sealed batt. Then they might be weak and need changed. I'd see if someone else that can track your collars give it a try with there box and if they get a bad beep then I'd say you need to replace batt. In the collars.

I thought that as well. I sent all my collars in for new batteries before season start. I have problems with all collars. I also went as far as changing out te coax cable thinking it may have been th wrong one. Coax cable is supposed to be 50 ohm i was thinking the cable on there was a radio shack 75 ohm. I may just go ahead and reburbish my johnson box then turn around sell it only if it is fixed. I think i will upgrade to something better.....

your knobs may have twisted on the box.a friend of mined box is that way. 2 is 5 he is used to it but nobody else can use it . it will only beep a collar up close on the correct numbers setting. hope this helps.

I talked to Johnson's today they said the same possible problem. I'm sending the whole system back collars, unit, and antena for them to look at. They will retune the unit and range test the unit along with the collars and antena. Hopefully when I get it back it will working like new...
