I lost 4 pups a few weeks ago. They had there first shots, they were kept up to date with worming. They were fat and healthy and very playful. One day they just stopped eating ,but were still playful. day two they acted sick! I thought they had gotten parvo some how thats what it looked like to me. So we started giving them pepto and water in a syringe. But it didn't help at all they got worse. Day 3 they were dead. They bled out the rectum, like with parvo. But this was way faster than parvo kills. I have got opinions from a few on here. And thought I would post about it and give everyone a chance to give there opinion on what they think it might have been. I sure hate I lost these pups they were very smart and I had hi hopes for them.

We had the same thing happen this year. I thought I got some bad shots so I contacted the drug company they said there was nothing out of the ordinary so... I got one of the pups to my vet and he said it was a bactierial infection they contracted from drinking rain water. I had never heard of this before but have made sure all buckets, feed pans, or anything that catches rain is turned upside down. The other litter I had we had no problems. I can get ahold of my vet and see if he can tell me the name of the baciteria if you would like.

That's what I was thinking too. It kills quick like you described too. A friend of mine saved 1 out of 8 out of a litter last summer that had it. 7 out of 8 were dead 3-4 days after they started acting sick and not eating, I think they were 5-6 weeks old at the time.

Coccidia x 3 - ya heard that already though, huh? I get 480mg SMZ from the vet supply and break in 1/2 for little pups once a day (twice is probably better) for 10-14 days. Albon liquid works EXTREMELY well but is nasty tasting and for once, the liquid isn't the easiest way to dose.
