I had to go it alone on this fine day. Well I would have been all alone if I had not brought my four fine girls along. Today Dixie, Pumpkin, Lucy and Maggie would make me proud once again. The river was running high and water was backed up in the swamp. This limited where I could hunt without the aid of a boat. I had to drive thru several low places to find some high ground. There we found lots of bunnies ready for a morning run. The area had enough cover but was open and washed. We hit the woods at 7AM and by 7:20 the girls had already put four bunnies in holes. The next several bunnies were not so quick to go down and these runs lasted 25 to 30 minutes. I did get shots (3 of them) at one big swamper. After the first shot missed that bunny put it in high gear. When he hit the water, the splash was high and loud. He hit the water, then 10 feet out he hit a dry spot then another 10 feet to hit the water. He then burned it out of sight. If I would have dropped that bunny I would not have got this great video of my hounds working the water and then continuing in hot pursuit after Mr. Water Wabbit.
