Another gun I thought should be mentioned is not one of my favorites but a good gun none the less......... A 25-06Rem is one helluva deergun......... A buddy of mine swears by them but currently shoots a 6mm which is also a great gun......... 25-06 shoots flat at longrange and has plenty of knockdown without the kick.........-tim

if you want a great deer load that will have almost no recoil then i would go with a .243. they will put deer down pretty good and they are easy on the shooter. the bullets arent expensive and you can find them in all brands of guns. my step mother and my step sister shoot a .243 and they dont have any problem with it.
if you are lookin to get the recoil down then i would go with a semi-automatic, that will take about half of the recoil away. i shot a semi auto 270 held out in front of me with one and to show a girl that it didnt kick so she would shoot it and it didnt ever kick my arm back.

also remington came out with a new type of high powered rifle ammo called "managed recoil" it has a little less powder and a little slower burning powder but it still had good trajectory. it will drop a hair more than the regular ammo but if you sight your rifle in with if then its not a problem. and they say it takes a lot of the kick out of a rifle.
also you can have your barrel ported and that will help a lot.
if you have medium caliber rifle, semi-auto, with the managed recoil remington ammo and a ported barrel then you should have ZERO complaints about kick.
there are lot of options to help ya out without spendin a lot of money or goin to a caliber that is too small

troublesomesix If you want a cheap deer rifle with no recoil and is a semi-auto try a SKS I know I will get some ribbing over this statement. But you want find a more reliable semi-auto than the SKS and you can pick one up for half the price of most rifles.

10-4 i thought you were talkin about the 5.56 NATO round instead of the 7.62for the AK-47. my cousins shoots the 5.56 NATO which is the .223. they make a 7.62 NATO that is a .308 win also lol.....
i need me an sks to hunt with lol.... i could crank a few shells off with that dude.. that last one i shot had no kick at all.

the 7.69 x 39 is a russian military round i think right?
and the 5.56 sks is a special order i guess. i got online and looked around for pricing on one and it is a sks version of the mini 14
