Safe Guard is a very gentle wormer that gets most of your common type worms. Fenbendazol is the active ingredient and is the same active ingredient as Panacure. It does not prevent heart worms and will not get tapes. you have to withhold food for 12 hours and give three days in a row.
Valbazen is a little harsher. My vet recomended the twice a day for five days at 1cc per 10 lbs. . I only use this wormer when I have tapes present and will get the other worms that Safeguard gets. As far as tapes, it will get the type dogs get from eating goodies, but will not get the type of tape gotten from fleas. It will not prevent heart worms either. The active ingredient is albendazole.

On Valbazen, 1 cc per 10 lbs given 3 days in a row will get rid of tapes (anything else other than HWs too) It HAS to be given 3 consecutive days to be effective.
They finally got the Synanthic off backorder at Jeffers, it's 1cc per 20 lbs (actually 25 lbs but I dose at 20 lbs) and my favorite of the "white" wormers.
