Kennel cough , say it is a virus , will run it's course in 2 wekks or so , heard of giving over the counter cough syrup, some say you can put a capful of bleach in their drinking water.

I agree, it could be kennel cough, but usually that's not limited to a specific time frame of coughing and you'll notice a shortness of breath when they're running. The cap full of bleach WILL help, I thought they were crazy when I heard that, but a fellow hunter kindly brought us kennel cough on a hunting trip last year and I tried it - was AMAZED with the results. I used the bleach and Cephalexin.
The kennel cough took the wind right out of my dogs.. took them a little bit to get it built back up too. I vaccinate the dogs we haul to bayings and shows but don't always give it to the dogs we hunt unless they're doing both - it went through ALL of the dogs though.
Allergies can pop up from time to time with pollens going strong with season changes...benedryl would help that.
A day or 2 with either "remedy" should show a big change, if not, I agree, a trip to the vet for a once over to make sure something else isn't going on - good luck with him.

I use some stuff called Tylan 50 for my dogs when they get kennel cough. It works real good. Its for cattle and swine but itll nock the cough right out of a dog. Couple hours that coughs gone.

gave him sone benodryl seem to help a little. My mom made me take him to the vet today though cause i already had to go to get one of the little house dogs shots. Vet said he was in good physical condition lungs were clear so it wasnt a resperatory infection and that it could be a mild case of kennel cough but most likely ate something that irritated his throat. So hopefully it will clear up in a few days and be no problem
