I have used it in Richloam running a coyote one night and it worked well. The ranges I posted were also in Richloam.I hung a collar on a fell down tree at green pond and the airstrip, 1.4 miles was at windshield bridge(just past cow ford). 2.9 miles was at the end of game commission.I hunt river road alot and keep dogs in Baird as well, but they know where home is and come out pretty quick.A friend of mine had one during season and hunted with us a few times. A whole pack got by us at river road and into the pasture. It was like watching a video game. You could see the race go tward the hiway, then cut back and come back by us in the pasture. As we could just start to hear them, they turned straight away tward 50.You could see the race dead end at the gidions lake.I guess the deer swam across. Then the dogs turned to head home, and were back within 2 hours. We didn't have to worry about them cause we could see where they were the whole time.Thats when I said,I will have one by next year. Also, you can set it to update less frequently and the battery will last up to 36 hours, but the track won't be as detailed.

They started letting you run coons, coyotes and wildcats during the traping season a few years back.I didn't shoot nothing but a couple hogs. My crew killed only 3,one was a pretty good one, scored right at 100.We had 5 more killed in front of the dogs.We usually kill 8 or 10. We have some good years and some bad ones.

no sir, not any particular area. Most blocks we hunt are big, and we don't see alot of what we run either.

If we ever get any rain and the swamps start flowin we will see the real richloam and the deer will be alot more predictable-now they just hall tail and get gone quick-

I'm glad to see this topic..I was wondering about the Garmin system. A lot of the guys around here hunt rain or shine. And I was told by one of them they really like the garmin but they keep the old tracking collars on the dogs to.Because when its raining or real over cast the garmins drop the signal a lot.. and my question is if I have to still use my old tracking collars and system as back up.Why would I drop a 1000 bucks for a new system and collars? It just seems like it would be even more for me to have to keep up with while hunting. Or am I way off ? I have never used a garmin and have no idea.I'm just going by what I was told.

I never ran with tracking collars but I now have the garmin system I love it and have used it rain or shine. I didn't have a dog out overnight all year. For me it is the ability to know exactly where my dogs are. I can see a realtive direction and a distance to them. It lets me get as close as i can via the truck and cut them off or call them out to me. The original collars I had trouble with but the DC 30 collars work great for me and rarely if ever lose signal for more than a second or two.

by far the best tracking system out there. The only fault is the battery life.....and i expect this to be better in the future as they continue to develop this product. We hunt a small group. Sometimes as little as two trucks and this system allows me to get infront of my dogs and catch them every time. You can also direct your hunting party to where you think the deer is going to cross. We might not have shot anything, but we saw 3x the deer using this system. It takes all the guessing out of it. Now we have 5 people that have them in our group and everyone loves them.....I should get a paycheck from Garmin for this ad.
