They're fun on any "game" here's a taste of the other side of the coin of the J Cross catahoula life. Ya'll have met Hickory, here's he and his buddy, Dare, having a good time on a wicked Watusi heifer that likes to get in your pocket. Dash...he says this is child's play. Viper turning the herd. Vette, I don't think ya'll have ever "met" her...she's a tough little cookie. Keepin' 'em bunched. Summer, up close and personal. Vette and Slinky PUPPIES! They're always fun! This little blue eyed angel will be staying here at Catahoulaville... Black Magic This is one of the kiddo's from the litter that was whelped with so much trouble...her name is Goose.

thanks ya'll. I enjoy my pack, they're just ordinary ol' dogs, but they do pretty good for me.

lol smoaks, that's what got me in the catahoula dog "business" years ago. Penning cattle for the public with a pack of "hounds" - some catahoula people take offense at my calling them hounds because they're not, they're curs, but well....that's just always been my "pet name" or one of them. I like to take a pack of dogs and use them on more than 1 thing - kinda as foulplay picks on me and calls it a "spotted dog ego" - it's just a "breeder thang" - I like to prove they can be, not just okay, but really good at more than one thing. SO, my hog dogs are cow dogs, my cow dogs are hog dogs, my woods dogs are pen dogs and all of them are priss around the ring show dogs...lol and pretty decent at it most of the time. They're money earners, they're title holders AND they actually get out in the "real world" and do the same job. LOL, did that make any sense?

I grew up with catahoulas as a kid at one time I had 6.They were mainly pets but we did run deer with them during the season.I have ten beagles now and I must say the catahoulas were the best dogs I have ever owned.

sounds good jcross, good to see dogs gettin to work for pleasure and business. when the hounds were started people raised them cause they fed their family. now most people just have them for pleasure. its nie to have a pack of hounds that you can run for pleasure on hogs, and turn around and use them for business on cattle..... and you could not have explained it better than you did in the above post.
