Jcross, thanks so much for the input...
When and how much can I administer Ivomec to my young pups? 10 weeks.

I don't start my pups on Ivomec until usually 4 or 5 months. The cycle of the HW is 6 months basically from larvae to adult, with maturing stages in between where Ivermectin is effective. Ivomec actually works backwards from most other medicines, it kills worms from the month before - instead of the month your giving it, if that makes sense.
SO, the stages of the HW cycles that the Ivomec will kill them in are actually what you're treating, rather than the worm themselves....and previous infection instead of current infection. It's a weird thing to explain, but with all the garbled message of explaining....5 months is plenty early enough to start pups safely.
It's rumored that Ivomec will kill adult HW's, but it won't, it will stop any larvae from maturing though and allow the mature worms to die out. That is a long process and can leave a dog open for lots of heart damage from the adults already present.
