Not sure I understand your question .. Are you just wanting him to run deer ? And he leeps going back to rabbits !!! If he just wants to run rabbits and Not deer, I have a perfect piece of land he can run them bunny's till the cow jumps over the moon ;D He would get lost behind your Blue Ticks running Deer , you dont need a dog that cant keep up with your other ones, just send him on down here then he won't feel so bad about being left behind by your Blue Ticks ;D ;D ;D

Carolinadoghunter... Did you forget your post and question here ? Are you trying to make him a dual running dog meaning rabbits and deer ?
There are very few that will do that on a solid day to day running situation. Your better off keeping him on 1 or the other. He will be hard to call a true running rabbit dog or a true deer dog. I learned something from a man who has been a rabbit man for over 50 years with beagles. And is in the Hall of Fame with his dogs a number a times.
Never breed a pair deer dogs and try to make the pups a rabbit dog and same on the rabbit dogs . If the sire and dam are true rabbit dogs never try to make them run anything but rabbits .
Dual dogs arn't always going to be true ... when they open up Just food for thought !!!
Have a good un !

if he packed up with the blueticks good then he would probably keep up for most of the race. if he dont pack up and trust the bigger dogs noses then he will be left behind. i have had beagles that ran with bnig dogs they were ran with normalle and they would keep just cause they would run harder trying to keep up, and if the pack lost the trail then the beagle would line it back out and they would go again.

well there is a season from november to the first of march, but hes gonna be a great rabbit dog! hes starting to jump by himself too, but he has a whole lot of speed, hell stay about 25 feet behind the rabbit. we have a rabbit pen and at one time a bunch of domestic rabbits got out, and now theyve bred and bred and became wild. so thats mainly what he runs. a lot of times hell be running a cotton tail mix or a cottontail. i carried him and a old dog out in the yard yesterday(the other dogs about 8) and he jumped a cottontail, and they were burning his --- up! that puppy bout caught him....
