I have never used a tracking system myself.Thats why I was asking the pros and cons of systems.I have lost a few dogs over the years but not many. The way we deer hunt everyone in the area works together to catch everyones dogs.

i bought a marshall trackin system about a year ago and i dont think i could find a better system. i think the collars are the best you can buy. before i bougt it everybody told me to buy johnson collars so i borrowed one and tried it out with a wildlife reciever. i didnt like it very good so i decided to buy a marshall. im glad i did because the collars get well over twice the range of a johnson and the marshall reciever is a lot smaller and a lot easier to handle than a wildlife reciever. there is a review of the marshall trackin system in the this months issue of coonhound bloodlines startin on page 122. its the october issue the autumn oaks special. but this is just my opinion and what i like somebody else might not.

we all use the quick track collars and trackers. They work as good or better than any others out there and are very easy to use. But the marshall is one heck of a system, but very expensive. We have a marshall antenna on one of our receivers and i really like the antenna.

Sometimes we use tracking collars sometimes we dont. When we are hardheaded and dont take time to putem on the dogs we usually ended doing more dog catching than hunting but its not to bad cus the whole club helps out in running and catching the dogs....

I think most crews here use tracking gear now, we haven't lost a dog since we have had them . One hunter that lives near me found his dog the other day in thick ,windfall country even though it had died. I couldn't reccommend tracking gear highly enough

You need to get a quick track tracking system. You can store up to 999 dogs on this system. Has a low and high frequency to tell when the dogs are close(low) or further away(high). You can only put 10 in memory though which is good for us b/c we have 10 dogs. The only bad thing about it is price. It is a tad bit pricy.

I use the rd 400 its the cheapest for me. We dont really loose a dog either but it saves time looking for them. If im right you all in the states have blocks i mean roads maybe a mileby a mile i think i explained that right. but we dont so it saves me alot of time
