I need some help! I am looking to buy a tracking system for my hounds and I know nothing about them. Does anybody have suggestions on a good system to get? I have about 10 hounds so I would need a system that could eventually support that many collars. I mainly use my dogs for running deer, fox, and coyotes on the outside so I am hoping to save some time and gas money looking for them. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks ARdogman

ive got a johnson merlin 10..it will hold 10 collars and ive had pretty good luck with it ..ive owned a quick track system back a few years ago and had good luck with it so theres quite a few good ones out there to choose from and theres others here that have had a lots more experience with tracking systems so get there input on them also before you make a choice

Wildlife 1000 or 2000 are the best for range tracking but not as convienent as a quick track system. both are good.

I use a Wildlife 1000, my brother uses a QT. Both are good, QT are smaller and more convenient, but I think I can pin point a dog up close better, it helps if the dog is near the highway or has laid down and not wanting to be called out. I use the 8,000hr Johnson collars, they work well. Not sure how far they'll track,5 miles or so I guess, never tried to distance the signal, I know I don't have to drive too far when I'm barely getting a track on them to getting them with the gain turned off. If you don't have a tracking system I highly recommend getting one, you'll save alot of gas and better yet you'll save your dogs life's. Ours go to the highway all the time so it's saved our dogs many times. I also recommend that you write down the serial number of the collar in case it gets stolen. I've heard that a guy at a SC field trial tracked his collar and that was the only way he proved that it was his. Your lookin at dropping about $1,500-2,000 on a new system with that many dogs, but danged they're worth every cent.

I use the WM TRX-10S with two different style of collars, the HLPM-3140 & the HNCM-3450 MAGNUM high-powered, (rechargeable). I like the 3450's the best, hassle free.It will track for 13 days on full charge. I had a collar with about 20 hours of track time and it stoped tracking while on a hunt,(found the dog), sent it in for repair and they were quick to return my collar and installed a new antenna,(all that was visible to me was the plastic coating was ragged from the briar's). And the lady i spoked to could speak good AMERICAN LANGUAGE.

i sold my innotek system and i have the quicktrack 6000 now. it is the best i have used. a couple of the guys i hunt with have systems that are limited to certain frequencies. one guy has a 218 system so he can only track 218 collars so i can track everyones dogs but they cant track mine cause i use 219 collars.
the quicktrack is expensive to get, but once you have it, you will save a lot of time and gas. since i started using the tracking systems we get one more hunt in a day cause we have all of our dogs.
