Yeah it's a hot wire fence a weak one, but they were both taught on a horse and cattle one. Jake knows how to get out, he's low crawled under it before but, crawled right back in, like he knows he belongs there. Purdie has busted through it once because she is real gun shy, but they stay there all the time behind that little now static wire.

Pretty cool...I've thought about using one, but wondered what it'd do when the dogs were hunting and came to a fence......reckon they'll assume ALL fences are hot?

I've been thinking about trying it.....got a box....think I'm going to use the tape rather than wire.......they're already used to pens, so should know all fences don't "bite"....I HOPE....I figure the white tape shouldn't be associated with stuff they run across in the woods.

I think they can sense when the wire is really hot or not. They tend to stay back further when it's on and come closer to it when it's not. If you leave it off for a long time they learn ti really isn't hot anymore and get real brave. Jake will stand there sometimes and bark at the wire forever until you tell him to knock it off. I take him out and about in the woods behind the house and he doesn't slack up one bit. Barbwire doesn't bother him and little limbs that are long and thin don't. I think they know what has the juice in it and what doesn't. He's been inside the hot wire for about 3 years. He has busted through it once when Purdie was in heat and spent a night with her. I didn't want to breed her at the time but he changed that pretty quick for me.
