12-17 Evening hunt - warm, SW winds Headed down in the big bottom to the climber. Got set up around 3pm. It was breezy and warm. Not much going on until around 4:30pm when I heard dogs about 1/2 mile to NE of me jump. They headed towards me but turned and headed SE of me, circled and went out of hearing. Seen alot of squirrels from this time until dark. Dark was settling in and about 5:30pm I stand up to start to get ready to climb down. All of a sudden, I hear deer! Running! Running at me! I get the gun and turn around and get ready. There is enough light to see about 50 yards, maybe a little more. Here comes this buck! Looks to be either a 6pt. or 8pt. with around a 14" to 15" spred. He is hoofin' it. He runs dang near under the climber, at 12 feet away. Then he proceeds to head out the way I came in. I had no shot as he was on a mission and running straight under me. I was about 20' up. He was a descent buck but, unsure if I would have taken him. I did notice that the scrape down there was still being ran as well.
Also, I took some pics of the bottom while walking in and from the climber. Enjoy the view:
