according to my vet it does no good to give shots while they are still nursing. they get antibodies and lietter from the mom.it takes 48hrs after they last nurse for the antibodies to stop working. i still do it but its for my own piece of mind because i have always done it...tony

that's true, we give our pups a "puppy series" that's shots at 8, 12 and then 16 weeks old, most pups don't have their full immunity until they are 1 year old or more, so a booster at 1 year is also done, then yearlt shots from there.
wormer is done on a 1 month, 3 month cycle, flea and tick is done monthly, heartworm is in the tick meds, and also 3 month heart worm tabs are given as well. rabies once a year.

I've always heard that. I like to give the 1st shot at between 4-5 weeks, several vets I've talked to suggested giving a 4th one at or around 16 weeks if you give the 1st one before weaning. I give my shots at 2 week intervals typically......

I as well as my father in law ( who has owned hounds for over fourty years) give a seven way shot at five and seven weeks then a eight way shot at twelve weeks. A local vet who is also a houndsman told me to let my pups suck for at least a week after the second shot. That I would loose far less pups due to the effects of the shot this way. And it would have no effect on the shots effectiveness.
