mr.b,just some food for thought here.i feed purina high pro which costs about 21$ a 50lb bag but if you join the purina pro club you get 4$back for every bag you buy, that means your only paying about 17$ a bag for a high quality feed.as far as what jcross was saying about them farming out there feed to other mills i dont know, but its free to join the purina pro club and the way my dogs look and perform i will not trust or feed another brand....

Im even feeding more than I used to and they should be putting on some weight by my thoughts but they are going the other way and loseing weight, my dogs are wormed every thirty days so I know there are no worms, they are not slugish coats still are lookin good, but the weight has droped . I fed Purina puppy chow to my pups from the time they could eat solid food and they looked good, but have put them on RR due to them being 8, to 10 months old, My older females which are 6 and 8 years are dropping weight too. Something is up with the river run food, I aint going to wate and let something simple as changing feed before it might kill them like the Diamond feed did before it comes into light. I appreciate everyones help here on this sincerely but Im am saying something is diffently different or wrong with the river run feed, I just cant pin point it other then take guesses at it. When I had nothing but coon hounds I fed O'l Roy Hi Pro and never had a problem with it with my hounds. If anyone else is feeding RR please let us know how your dogs are holding up or looseing weight as well. Again thanks fellas, I sure nuff got some choices to make on what Im going to feed my dogs to get them right again. God bless ...

www.purina.com/company/History.aspxpurinamills.com/It's a trusted name that is responsible for a majority of the pet food industry today. They've done AMAZING work..... but today's pet food isn't the old tested and tried Purina Mills feed anymore and hasn't been since the 1980's. Purina Mills doesn't "do" dog food. Nestle' Purina does - they used to advertise where their mills were, they don't do that any longer, but last I saw, it was still listed on their pet food bags. Purina Mills still holds the standard of excellence in the industry for what they do - there's just things they don't do anymore, the bigger pet food industry went with Nestle' Purina for the larger market, it's still great just not as great as it once was - select from the "cream of the crop" products where quality ingredients are still the "norm" and you get exactly what you'd expect Purina to be. It's all about marketing, Purina is Purina, right? Wrong. Unless you keep close ears to the food industry or were "bitten" by the change, you'd never know the difference.

Mrbeagler , it's went up to over $700.00 a ton , ($722.00 ?) over $200.00 a ton in the last month or so . But it is good feed . I think it's around $19.50 a sack if you buy it that way . It's made in Dumas , Arkansas but you have to go through a distributer . They also make fish & cat food .
