i usually do mine about a month before dog season, the dogs arent running because its bow or still gun season, and i am thinkin about the dogs waitin on the day i can turn them out. so i usually do it late october or the beginning of november.

Brandon During the nursing period a puppy receives protective antibodies from the mother's milk. This natural immunity will begin to disappear with time, and may be gone soon after weaning.Around 8 to 10 weeks of age.So I don't give the first set of shots till there about six weeks old.But this is just my opinion from what I have learned from talking with vets.

well. the only reason i am worried about it is the fact that my pups are weened at 4 weeks. they eat solid food and drink water. in the last day or so they only get on the tit about 1 time a day and she will only stand there for about 10 seconds so they realy arent drinkin any milk. im sure this changes things up a little bit, i also put them outside in the back yard yesterday and there are a few other dogs in yards that are around ours, so i dont want them to get somethin from one of those dogs...

i guess my biggest question is... is it safe to give an 8 in 1 to a 5 week old puppy?

Our vet told us not to give shots before 6 weeks because of what dd said. The mom's antibodies are still in them and you are basically wasting money until then. Some shots can be given at 5 wks, but check the package...if it says 6 wks, then don't give any sooner.
