1/2 to3/4 cc of ivomec under the skin for 2 or 3 days will really help a dogs coat but he needs to be heartworm free or it might kill him

This is RED mange which is a lot different and far more serious as it is in the blood as well as on the skin. Red mange will kill a dog quickly.
Have a warm dry place with no straw or hay to stick the dogs skin as it is going to be sensitive. This remedy will give a wet, damp or cold dog Pneumonia quick.
First have the mixture all ready to put on and rub the dog all over with white gas, the kind Amoco used to sell. It will blister if left on by itself too long so, when the dog is covered in gas, wait 5 minutes and then start rubbing on this mixture:
One pint of burnt motor oil, a quart of kerosene, one box of sulpher, one half bottle of Camphophenic ( I'm sure I spelled it wrong) Rub it in real good, especially get between the toes and back of ears where they meet the head.
Also, give a pinch between your fingers of sulpher added to a piece of meat to get it down inside and in the blood.
Do all above every 6 days. You should see improvement in 10 days if its not too far gone already.
Let me know how the dog is doing.

Is it mange or just an allergic reaction to fleas or something? IF it's "hot spots" on the dog Use Bag Balm and run it in on the spots throughly. For fleas use Spot-ON on the dog and Twenty Mule Team Borax in the pen.

The burnt oil and sulfur has done a good job on her body. Its just the tip of her tail and ears that doesn't have all the hair back yet.And the hair on her ears is slowly coming back its just real short. Its the tip of her tail that is not healing up like it should. She bites on it until it bleeds. She is going to be a good looking dog. When I picked her up she didn't have much hair at all.And I started to shoot her as bad as she looked. But my wife talked me out of it.But she is coming along its just slow. dd444

DD,
As far as tha small spots that she won't stop biting on you can get some Avon Skin-So-Soft lotion (your wife will know what it is) and put on it. It keeps their skin moist and they don't much like the taste of it. I used it on spots on my pit for years. And another option would be plain old vasoline. It helps the hair to come back too.
