Fellas I keep thinking about getting some beagles to run deer with but then more than a few folks around here tell me to get hounds instead because beagles dont push deer hard enough and are alot belong in the rabbitwoods......... Is this true or not? ?? I can kinda see where they have a point because beagles have alot shorter legs than a hound like a Walker or something but I want to get some dogs and beagles dont eat as much so what are your opinions on this are they good enough, reallygood, great, do they keep up with Walkers or what? ??

Bo go get ya some bealges!! You dont need a da gum walker dog that is 3 foot high! Believe me i have full blooded 14 inch beagfles and they will all run one all day long by themselves!!! Getcha one that is started thern about 3 puppies and u will be good to go come about half way the season! They are smart dogs a little hard headed at times but once u get em goin they are the best dogs u could own! And in my personal opion i thinki they are just about the hardest huntin dogs u can come by!!!!! But if u havent noticed by now i love my beagles!! And they sound good runin to they beat a walker dog any day of the week in myt book!!!! lol ;D ;D ;D ;D

i personally run beagles, most everyone else i hunt with hunts walkers. a beagle is a great deer dog, they arent gonna run the deer as fast and they wont hit the road 25 yards behind the deer but they will run its legs off. i like to run beagles cause they dont make the deer leave town. they are easier to catch and cheaper to feed.
where i hunt we dont have a huge block of land to run so if you run beagles you can drop the tailgate and hunt that single block. when you put the walkers out most of the time you have to stand blocks that are out a little ways from where you turn loose and wait on the deer to come through other peoples land. which all of this is fine. you just hunt each of them a little different.
my dad runs blueticks on deer and they are a little faster than a beagle, when they are hot on a deer they can keep up with any walker ive ever seen. last year they out ran and out lasted a whole pack of walkers, but if you run them by their self they will slow it down a little bit and push that deer enough so that when it hits a gasline or opening it will stop and look around instead of just haulin butt across it.
come run with me and ill show you its not about the breed you hunt with, its about how you hunt and stand them.

i got just what ya need. she's a 15" class tri-color. 3yrs old. a very good rabbit dog but if she hits a deer it'a c'ya later.i've had to leave her at home if i'm running in places we are likely to get into deer cuz i'm tired of waiting and looking for her. she will always come back but i never know how long it will be.she's medium speed and will pack well with other dogs. despite her pudgy looks she'll push them for hours.. if it weren't for chasing deer i would keep her.. email me for pics if u r interested. i'm in ne okla walter waldo007782ufc@yahoo.com
