How many of you have took kids hunting with you?I can remember taking 3 kids back when I was younger. Now they are grown men and 2 of the 3 I took regular are hunters today. One is a dog hunter and has his own dogs now.One hunts with me when his wife lets him! ;D you can only teach them so much ..And the 3rd one moved away I don't know if he hunts or not.Now I am carrying my children hunting. My oldest son is dd35 and is a dog man all the way he loves it. Over the years I have carried lots of kids hunting. But the 3 I am posting about stick out in my mind. There is nothing like the look on a kids face when they kill that first deer.It makes it all worth while you know what I mean.So have you took a kid hunting? dd444

We used to take a friend's son hunting, when he first started ,he didn't have a gun but used to love coming out . He would help lead the dogs in , did his apprenticeship. He learnt well, he got his juniors permit and dad got him a 30-30. He shot his first deer while we were hunting Casper creek. By the time he was 16 he had taken a really nice 29" (see the young man in the Email Chris) a local 27" and a 26 " head in hard velvet. He shot a spikey off Bobbie my old blue heeler , that was a good day , we put up a spikey and it trotted off. I put him in a spot and told him to wait and i'll push the deer back. I took Bobbie up high and cut around the head of a couple of gullies, dropped down and she was on to him and pushed that deer straight back to Adam. He was only 15 and the smile on his face was magic. He has now found Girls , beer and football and doesn't hunt these days. But the call of the hounds will bring him back one day

My kids are welcome anytime, any kid is for that matter. After all, they are the future. My son will be 14 in january, thus far he has taken two big game animals. The first being a cow elk with his bow last year. The second a 104" coues white tail with his rifle, also last year. My daughter does'nt hunt. But thats her choice, she's more than welcome to come along. She does like the hounds though. I don't make them do anything they don't want to. I've taught them that to succeed in life, you have got have respect. Respect for yourself & for others. Mind their manners & don't give up on something that they believe in. Well i can't take all the credit for their success, as their has been alot of people that have influenced them. But to get back to the question. Yes by all means i'll take a kid along, all they've got to do is want to go & we're gone......
