Ok whats the coldest weather you have ever hunted in? My coldest experience while hunting wasnt with deer hunting but it was still without a dought, the coldest I have ever been.... It was last January or Febuary dont remember which and it was perty close to the last weekend of duck season and just about everything else was out of season. Therfore me and my bro intended to duck hunt the following morning. Well we loaded up the decoys and shotguns and headed to the ponds. It was before daylight and the thermometer on the truck said 17degrees and I have since decided that is way to cold I will hunt from my truck when its that cold....
Well Dad tried to tell me not to go but I was hardheaded and went neways figuring heck Ill get out the wind and it wont be so bad and I was dressed so thick I looked like a friggin Eskimo with armfulls of decoys and a shotgun lol. We slid the boat off in the front pond and broke ice with it and I was already starting to regret my decision to go hunting. I paddled out to where I wanted to be and then tried pulling the boat up on the little island to hide it which in turn didnt work out due to the ice and rubber boots dont mix. Thank god the ice didnt cut my boot or I wouldve been scrued for shore but I got out and pulled the boat up as far as I could. Then I threw some decoys out only for them to bounce across the ice. Well I said heck with it and loaded my shotgun and waited for daylight. It was definitley cold no dought and as the sun come up we welcomed it to melt the ice and our hands. Only shot two ducks and when I shucked my 870 ice flew off it. Soon we got tired of it and we called Dad to come pick us up. Here where it got bad. I was picking up decoys and my hands got soaked. I took the gloves off and it was so cold it felt like I was short of breathe so I just sat down and waited. Before long Dad pulled up and he said I was on the verge of frost bite and we thought about going to the hospital instead of the truckstop to get coffee. I said "naw Ill be ok" so we cranked the heaters on full blast and it hurt to hold them on the heat so I just layed down on my hands and eventually they got warm enough to move so I went in the store and got some coffee and it got better as the day went on. That was without a dought as cold as I have ever been. DANG my hands hurt just thinking about it. You fellas can bet if it is below freezing I will be hunting from my truck with the heaters on.... Lets here some of your finger hurtin frostbit cold as heck finger stories....
