Also, save them to your computer because they WILL get messed up and you don't want to have to drive them again. I have mine on several buddies machines to kind of back up the computer.

"We've got a map on the micro SD card and can only get contours not roads etc Anyone know how to get the roads up? " I drove all our backroads and saved them as tracks. Kind of a pain, but the only way to get all the dim roads . Kind of suprised me to know there were 90+ miles of backroads in the small area we hunt. Just make sure you leave the track log off or it will fill your memory up. Can you give us instructions on exactly how to do that? I have struggled to figure that one out. Thanks

There are several different approaches to this.
First of all the astro comes preset from manufacturer @ saving 3000 tract points. You can reset this up to 10,000 max. If you have tracted over the amount set you will start loosing tracts from the screen, but they are still in your unit. They will show up on your computer. When you reset the amount they will show up again on your unit.
I am out of time for further tips right now. I will try to get back at this tonight?

Those contour maps are off old government topo maps made in the late 50's and 60's. In rural areas they show roads that were there when they were made. A lot of the old dim roads that were there are gone. The new ones don't show. In my area I have to track out the roads that are there anyway. The roads off the contour maps are off by as much as 150', so if I want to know when my dogs are actually in the roads I have to re track them. They look like they are where they should be until you zoom in.
By the way, the additional range on the 320 comes from the longer antenna. You can get one of the longer antennas and put it on your 220 and get the increased range. I talked to Garmin and they verified that. Don't know about the other bells and whistles?
The magnetic antenna you put on the roof of your truck really increases your range. It doubled or close to tripled mine. I use the short antenna until I start loosing the dog (about 1 to 1.5 miles) Then I will switch to the mag roof antenna and get up to about 3 miles.
My buddy bought one of those telescopic long range antennas and has had good luck with it. They are aw full flimsy though.

Troy If it is the sequence your looking for, it is from the map screen: menu/menu/advanced/gps applications/tracks. The track log on/off swith is at the top of that screen. Just highlight which you want and hit enter and you are good to go. I hope this helps?

Here's a tip that will save you big money if you don't already know it. If you key your CB and your garmin antena is to close to your Cb antena, it will blow your finals in your garmin. You loose the ability to track your dogs. I have done this and one of my buddies has done it also. You can send it back to Garmin and get it fixed for $150, but if you are hunting and have gotten used to the gps, the time lag there is worse than the money. If you are running a linear you better be extra careful. I rerouted my coax around the opposit side of the cab just to be sure.
