Thats about as bad as a mouthy dog . My nephew is hunting a Walker gyp and the previous owner had the same problem . He never spent any time with her and she was real hand shy . He spends a little extra time with her every day when he feeds and she is slowing coming out of it . I have used a long rope , ( 20 or 30 feet ) tied to a choker chain put behind the regular collar . Start calling her and dragging her to you and petting her , maybe even give her something for a reward . Hope she comes out of it for you .

she will come to me in the yard or most any time, it's just when shes in the woods for a while and not struck. it's like she's not ready to quit yet

A shocker will work you just need to train her to understand why shes getting zapped...

I know a guy who could get within 30 yrds of his dog but couldn't put his hands on her. He got her from a guy who hadn't really worked her much so she was very shy. He tied about 40 feet of weed eater string to her. It never did tangle on stuff in the woods. I guess the way its memory is or cause its hard to double over itself. that worked for him.

I absolutely cannot stand a dog that won't come to me when I call them. I spend a lot of time with my dogs, have a pup right now that is hard headed as a goat, he's getting ready for a bit of an education. One of my young dogs pulled that crap a couple weeks ago, I let him get about 400 yards away when the trusty old Trash breaker crawled right in the middle of his tail! He was pretty certain that net wire fence had a hole in it directly in front of me so he could come through it. It really worried him when he had to go around rather than straight to me. We had a little talk and he thinks it's a pretty good idea to stop what you're doing when "mom" says let's go and come to her. He's still shook up from it and will get about 5 feet from you and lay down, but he's not going the other direction or ignoring you. He will learn the zap isn't going to happen as long as he comes when called....he just got a bigger dose than normal because he was pretty determined to go do what HE wanted rather than what I wanted. In fact, that was the one and only time he's ever had a shock collar on. He knows what come here means, he just didn't wanna listen.

I ahd a lemon and white deer beagle that i raised from a pup. When I got her she was real shy. I hand fed etc. When I started running her with my pack I couldn't catch her. She would hang just out of reach. I too used the weed eater cord. It worked great I could catch her quick as she would come to calling. Towards the end of the year it had got a lot better and I didn't need it. good luck.

spend enough time with her with the shock collars and you can get her to almost deal a deck of cards
