We need more forums and voices such as this. Forget those that do not dog hunt and want to impose on dog hunting. It ticks me off.

I grew up in Atlanta and as Georgia deer hunters know, the middle and northern part of the state don't allow dogs to hunt deer.
I did not come from a hunting family, but was fortunate to have folks who understood and allowed me to learn on my own and through others who took the time to mentor me.
Back in the mid and late 1970's as I approached legal age, I had a very negative view of dog hunters. Having never hunted with dogs I had this vision in my head of the deer being dragged down and killed by packs of howling dogs.
Then when I was about 16 I went on my first dog hunt. I was hooked, and over the years have hunted behind dogs in Georgia, Florida, South Carolina and Arkansas.
I've also hunted bear in North Carolina and hogs in pretty much the same places I hunted deer and can't think of a better and more humane and sporting way to hunt big game in the South.
I agree 100% we need to keep an eye on the anti's.
But, I also believe that we are under a greater threat from those in our sport, than we will ever be from the anti's.
Even our far left news media laughs at the farsical rantings and actions of the anti's.
Our greatest threat IMHO comes from within and I'm convinced beyond any doubt that here in Georgia there is and will continue to be attempts by people who call themselves hunters to abolish the use of dogs for anything other than birds and ducks.
We've seen a decrease in hunter numbers in Georgia over the past decade and this past deer season was considered by many to have been the worst in recent memory.
The economy no doubt plays a part here, but I know of men my age who have given up hunting because it's no longer fun. Today in Georgia it seems it's more about the kill than the hunt.
Whereas before we were in it for the fellowship the cameraderie and the desire to enjoy the outdoors. Today it's all about growing the biggest deer with the biggest rack.
I hope I won't be kicked out after just getting here, but I blame much of this on the QDM movement.
Bigger is not always better and more is not always the best way to go. I resent being told what a trophy is and what it isn't.
I resent people taking up the sport of hunting solely for the desire to kill something they can hang on their wall and brag about to their friends at cocktail parties.
We've seen people go from standard deer caliber rifles to magnums with high magnification scopes, so the shooter can climb up into his tower stand thirty feet up and overlooking their 20 acre food plot and wait to make 200-300-400 yard shots.
Where in the deep south do you need to make 400 yard shots and where is the hunting skill in that?
For the record I make my living as a police officer and have been a sniper in military life and as a SWAT team precision rifleman, so I kind of know what I'm talking about.
It's bad enough that we in the South have to put up with outsiders and historical revisionist's telling us what we can and can't believe about ourselves as a people and as a culture.
We now must suffer the indignity of having to defend ourselves from our own people, who in their desire to force their style of hunting on us, not only destroys us as a culture and as a people, but in the end these same self serving people will see to the demise of all types of deer hunting.
Because it might start with outlawing dogs, but it will end with the destruction of all hunting.

You are right about it starting with outlawing dogs, but it ending up destroying every form of hunting. The antis love that half of hunters hate another half, because it divides us and makes us weaker. I don't deer hunt with dogs, but I do squirrel, coon, and rabbit hunt with dogs, and have no problem with someone who runs deer with dogs ON THEIR OWN PROPERTY AND LEGALLY. I tell people all the time that once you outlaw deer hunting with dogs, coon hunting, rabbit hunting, bear hunting, etc will go next, because rich land owners and trophy hunters who are essetially "deer breeders" can't stand someone having a good time just for the sake of having a good time in the field with their dogs. What they don't realize is that once we are divided completely we will all fall FAST. People just aren't going to realize this until its too late.
