as some of yall no my best dog was stuck in the foxpen for a few days, and when i got her yesterday i just noticed she was exausted, but this morning i saw her belly and it was covered with ticks in some areas you couldnt see her skin. they were mainly those tiny ticks that were about the size of a speck of lead from a pencil. ive been spraying her, you cannot see her fur in some spots because so many ticks are coming off, when she was drinking water, about 50 ticks were left in the water pan. she has to have atleast 2000 of them on her. its killing me to see that many ticks on her. i bout took her in the shower lol. let this be a warning spray your dogs head to tail before they go running!

Get yourself some Bayers concentrate complete insect killer. Mixes it 3oz to 2 gallons of water and spray your dog from the neck to the tail. Leave the mixture on for 15 minutes and rinse repeat once a week if necessary.. Also spray her pen down real good... Trust me this worksand will get her pen free of ticks and fleas for the rest of the summer..... Once a month get the concentrate about 3cc to 6cc and place between the front shoulders as a preventative.. This far cheaper than frontline and works great....

about 1 cc per 12 -15 lbs should work perfectly for flea and tick control of the Bayer Tree & Shrub - it's the same chemical that is in Advantix (or Advantage) can't remember which one. Plus it takes a HECK of a lot to OD a dog...so it's really safe.

according to my vet, it's as safe as any chemical out there, most say - 8 weeks is the target age for beginning, I would cut the dose to a minimum - 1cc per 20 lbs - so 1/4 to 1/2 cc maybe per pup - depending on the breed of course. I wouldn't use it on anything YOUNGER than 8 weeks, but over that mark, I wouldn't be scared of it at all.

jcross.Rule of thumb,1cc-10lbs.of body weight.Slowly put it on their shoulders so it will absorb into their hair and they can't lick the spot.Once every 4-6 weeks depending if the dogs are being hunted around water. mr.beagler,I have used it on pups as young as 12 weeks but IMPO I think 8 weeks are a little young.

She's also the runt of the litter, so she's had to fight for everything to survive. At 8wks, she looks like a 4 or 5 week old. She's a tiny little girl . just to be safe id better wait on her. But i'll tell ya this ,she's got the grit of a 12 month old when she sez back off... the others move outta her way ;D Im gonna go ahead with the 4 and 6 month old useing it and the grown dogs. One other question, I got some safe guard wormer today but its for horses how do I figure the ammount to give and is it safe for dogs Had to get this as I didnt know when id be gettibg back to town the dogs need worming now .

1 click of the safeguard paste is enough for 50 lbs of horse, SO, that's good for about 50 lbs of dog actually - use it 3 days in a row.....not much good otherwise except for round worms. Safeguard is a pretty mild wormer, rather tough to overdose one on it. I'm partial to the "bendezole" wormers - they'll get most all of the worms except tapes and heartworms when given in 3 day doses... a lot of them will also get tapes.

Okay, here's my deal with paste wormer, it can work great, but.... I don't always trust it's "precision" - here's what I'd do. Set your ring for 1 click - squirt onto a plate or some such, with a butter knife, cut off about 1/3 of it for your little girl - that will be enough for ABOUT 12-17 lbs of puppy - she's probably NOT that big, but again, safeguard is NOT a harsh wormer, so maybe a little over done, but I'd rather be a little over done than under done where worms are concerned. Do that for 3 days in a row and clean her right up. for the bigger pups, give them 1/2 each of 1 "click" And remember, her size doesn't have as much to do with it as her age - definitely dose her for her weight, but treat her for her age group. You wouldn't NOT give a 10 year old kid medicine because he was little, you'd just give him according to his weight range.
Runts are tough, they've had to be to survive.... my bed hawg Double Champion 70+ lb catahoula weighed 3.8 lbs at 7 weeks old, less than 1/2 what he should have weighed.... keep her healthy, she'll grow out of it.
