Never run one on a deer before. We run bear and coon. Use deer break to make sure that they don't!! They are pretty fast though, could probably be convienced to run a deer!! LOL

They are better than running walkers because most have brains and easily trained to hunt like you want to hunt.

It all depends on the dog. There are walkers with short legs, long legs, fat ones, skinny ones, big ones, and small ones. I had an 80 lb walker and I have a 45 lb one. Just depends on the dog you pick! Guess you wanna pick a fast one!! But what are you going to do when the Walker catches the deer and how are you gonna get that deer outta the tree???

treeing walkers are great deer dogs, they have a little more sense than a running walker and they are still good and fast, if you dont have a dog with stump legs. all in all they make great deer hounds

all of the treeing walkers i have dealt with were pretty fast. in a sprint probably not quite as fast, but they are still very fast dogs. they are usually a little thicker in the legs and body so it makes them a little slower. but i have never seen them have trouble when mixed in with a pack of running walkers.

i run a mix of treeing walkers and foxhound stock.i like the colder nose a treeing walker seems to have and they do seem to be a little slower but run a tighter track

I like them both I would say a treeing walker handles a little better than a running walker.Because a running walker don't know when to stop!As for a speed a treeing walker is slower than a pure breed running walker.A pure breed running walker fox hound is fast!they are built for speed long and lean. And the running style is different to.A treeing walker runs with its head down nose on the ground where it can smell the track better.A running walker runs with its head up and winding the track.I have had running walker cross 15 feet down wind of where the deer did on a windy day.The only trouble with that is a running walker will over run the track faster than a treeing walker will. But in my opinion both make great deer dogs it just depends on what you want out of a dog.
