Just found this great website and registered. Got an email from Chris Owens with the link. Sure glad to find a site that is about dog hunting and not against it

good to be here !!! I have a quick question... My mother is getting me a redbone pup from Arkansas for my birhtday. Both parents are excellent dogs so I am told. I have never really gotten into coon hunting (because I didnt know anyone that coon hunted) and I was wondering if I turned the pup loose when he got older with some deer dogs if he would possibly run a deer? If not, then I will be taking up coon hunting

I appreciate all the replys... I know a good bit about deer and fox hounds but just wasnt sure about coon dogs. If he dont make into a deer dog, I will start coon hunting him. Either way I am sure that he will make a great dog

Just cause its called a coon hound doesnt mean its a coon dog. I have 2 B&T coon hounds that I run deer with. If its a young hound(less than 5 months) it should be deer broke yet. Folks use Coon hounds for all type game so dont let the name fool Ya. Good luck and show us some pics when ya get the pup.
