Most of the boys we hunt with use Johnson-Collars, but I cant afford them so dont have any experience with them.... We usually hunt with enough folks our dogs get caught anyways so Im not to worried about them for my dogs....-tim

The Icom R10 picks up all the collars made and is cheaper than any of the others. I've used one for three years and love it, but they are hard to find. Quicktrax collars beep alittle fast than Johnson and Wildlife are just too slow for me, but I started with Quicktrax. As with anything, it takes practice to learn them all. No matter what someone else says all you really get is the direction and some distance but distance can vary depending on alot of things but I have always known were my dogs were with the tracking systems, and take most of them home that day, they need a retrieve switch for hard headed dogs that like to stay out.

quick track all the way. I have had them take beatings from hogs when the dogs were caught and still no problems and they are going on 5 or 6 yrs now

i have both wildlife and quick track. there`s no comparison, the quick track is a great unit compared to the wildlife. sometimes before we get back to the trucks the yotes were running can be over 5 miles away. the quick track will send me in the right direction every time. if i didn`t have so much money infested in the wildlife i`d throw it out.

Try MT-8000 with attenuator at magnumtelemetry.com.... As Red bone hound said this is the box . It can track up to 5 different frequencies ranges 216-220 and is a digital box that can be set up(calibrated) every year to your collar frequency. Because crystal's change over time .And if you are in a big club that has over laying collar numbers as in .110 and .115 this box can tell the difference. Plus if you ever try to sell it you have a wider buyer's market.
