10-4 I heard that.... We tried running beagles once but most of the time the hounds would just run off and leavem and on most of our blocks are so big running beagles wouldnt work cus the deer would never come out to shoot at know what I mean? Like I have said before most of our hunts are Walkers or Black&Tans and Walkers for me........

Ya we got big blocks and small ones! But hell i turn mine out any where! It might take em a whiile but they will eventually bring em out that big block!! But my two male dogs will run with the big dogs any day of the week! They have some long ol legs fer a beagle!!! They are about as tall as a walker but short as a beagle!! lol

Sounds awsome!!!! Some of the boys in the club that bumps up to ours ran a single beagle with their hounds one year and he ran good for a while but they sold him for some reason, I guess the man had the money........

houndhunter101 At one time or another I have run deer with just about any hound..I have had walkers,blue-ticks,English{red tick} black&tan and red-bone all in the same pack before ..And all of them did a good job..A black & tan makes a fine deer dog but you can get one that is a little to cold nosed for me every now and then but thats in any breed..One of the best dogs I ever owned was half black and tan..So I would say they make good deer dogs..But thats just my opinion..

I have 2 B&T's for running deer. Unfortunately I didn't get them started young enough and now they are more pack dogs than jump dogs, but again that was my fault.

we have one b&t in the club and she was a stray that wandered up. they started puttin her in with the deer dogs and now she is oen of the best deer dogs in the club. i killed that buck last week ahead of her, and another guy killed a big buck off of her. the only problem with her is that when you kill the deer you cant hardly drag it out cause she is eatin on it and you have to pull her and the deer. she wont stop.... im seriously thinkin about either gettin black and tans or blue ticks to run deer with. i like them because they are easy to handle and catch when you want to.

My grandfather used to run nothing but black and tans for deer and they would run the hair off of one.

usually the black and tans are about the same speed or maybe even a little slower than the ticks, they tend to be a bigger in the body which sometimes slows them down. but some of the smaller slimmer ones are every bit as fast.

The one I have now is a bit slower than my Bluetick/ walker mix... My black n tan / walker mixes smoked a deer.... Bigger dogs will be a bit slower than the slimmer dogs... I will not trade Big Buck for anything, he rides in the back of the jeep on every hunt..
